COMMUTE INFORMATION TO AND FROM MARINA VILLAGE

There are a variety of commute alternatives available to tenants within Marina Village project, including BART, AC Transit, carpool and vanpool. Rather than driving alone, we encourage tenants to use alternate means of transportation. Below is information to help make your commute convenient and easy.

BART/Shuttle Van and AC Transit Bus

On April 15, 1991, AC Transit, BART, and City of Alameda joined forces to provide an AC transit shuttle van (Route 42) and AC Transit bus (Route 12) connection to the 12 Street and Fruitvale BART stations. The shuttle van (42) and AC Transit bus (12) make five stops within the project. The shuttle van (42) supplements the bus service during peak hours between 7:16 a.m. to 8:31 a.m. and 4:18 p.m. to 6:03 p.m., and runs from 12th Street BART through Marina Village and back to BART. The AC Transit bus (12) runs from 6:13 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. from 12th Street BART, through Marina Village, down Buena Vista, to Fruitvale BART and back along the same route. The trip from BART to Marina Village takes 7-8 minutes.

The cost is $1.25 per ride or $1.00 with a BART transfer. The Marina Village office at 1150 Marina Village Parkway also offers bus passes at a discount! A book of ten (10) passes can be purchased for $5.00 which is valued at $12.50.

Carpools and Vanpools

RIDES provides callers with a matchlist of names, phone numbers, locations and schedules of people whose commute is similar to their own. In addition, RIDES will assist in forming a vanpool. They will help tenants lease a van, find riders, set the route and obtain insurance. RIDES also provides basic guidelines and ongoing support after the vanpool is formed.
